September 12th-18th 2010 Tight Lines Deschutes River Trip with Larimer Outfitters!

Tight Lines is very excited to announce that our shop manager, Charlie Piette, will be hosting a summer run steelhead trip on the Deschutes River this fall.  We will be fishing with one of the absolute best outfitters of the Pacific Northwest; Larimer Outfitters.  Tom Larimer (owner) and his crew are the ONLY fly fishing guides offering camp trips on the lower 20 miles of the Deschutes.  The trip will consist of 4 nights camping and 5 days fishing.  This particular stretch of water is one of those “must see” places for anglers that enjoy pursuing steelhead.

tim-bonefish.jpgMount Pleasant Fishing Lodge is on White Bight along theeastern coast of Andros Island in the Bahamas. Andros Island is located 150 miles SE of Miami Florida. It is the largest of the 700 Bahamian islands, but remains the least populated. It is 104 miles long and forty miles wide at its widest point. It has more fishable flats than any other island in the Caribbean and has long been known for its sheer numbers and size of bonefish. Some say the next world record bone is swimming around Andros. The people here are friendly and welcoming. Andros is home to the second largest reef chain in the world which stretches the entire length of the island creating endless diving and deep sea fishing options. The Island is very undeveloped with no large resorts and no tall buildings. The island setting is laid back and casual. There is Bahamian currency, but no need to exchange since the US dollar is equal to the same amount and accepted everywhere on the island.

    History & Location

Mt. Pleasant is a family owned and operated lodge that has been in business since 2001. The property has been in the Farrington family for 100 years. The property is located at the end of a 1 mile driveway. It is a peaceful and secluded setting with four cottages and a main lodge dining building. The setting is white sand with plenty of trees creating shade for hammock or beach chair lounging around the property. Six miles of uninhabited coastline accessible from the lodge offer walks on secluded beaches. A short walk from the lodge leads way to the blue holes. These blue holes are small pond like water openings in the forest that open way to extensive underwater caves systems that attract divers and researchers from around the world. The property also offers miles upon miles of hard bottom wadable flats. Waters around the lodge are 1-4 feet deep at high tide and low tide leaves about 200 feet of tide pools and coral formation exposed for exploring out of water. The lodge property also has a tidal creek and with each new tide it runs like a river through mangroves for about 1 mile. The creek is perfect for swimming and snorkeling and there is a creek side beach that is perfect for sunbathing and relaxing. Only 1 mile from the lodge is the second largest coral reef in the world offering great diving and blue water fishing

Wade Fishing Mount Pleasant Fishing lodge is a dream come true for those looking for a lodge in which they can easily wade miles upon miles of hard bottom flats from your doorstep. 100 feet from your room is the beginning of your extraordinary Mt. Pleasant fishing experience. From the Lodge about 2 miles South and 1 mile North are hard bottom Oceanside flats. These flats are made up of mostly small coral formations and sand. 100 feet to the North lies a beautiful white sand hard bottom flat that continues North for 1 mile with a series of small bays and private beaches. These flats hold large, double digit bones with an occasional cruising permit. After these flats you will see miles of a white sand hard bottom flat called White Bite. The white sand makes it very easy to spot cruising bones and permit. The White Bite tends to hold a large number of 2-5 pound fish with occasional double digit fish. The endless options of wadable “do it yourself” flats accessible from the lodge offer many wading possibilities, high to low tide, back bays that offer relief from East wind, and ocean flats that offer some relief from West winds. These “do it yourself” wading options surrounding the property make Mt. Pleasant the perfect destination for all levels of fisherman. Other fish you can expect to see are jacks, snapper, baraccuda, rays, boxfish and sharks. Rumor has it that the next record Bone fish is swimming around Andros.
